Katherine Heigl discusses how growing up as a child in a 'white bubble' changed the way she parented her adopted multiracial family. In an interview, she said in the past that in terms of skin color there is no difference. But after speaking to her sister, who was adopted in South Korea she realized just how differently society treats the children. Meg was asked if she was treated differently in the times they went out with their parents and then when they went alone. Meg replied, "Oh, yeah, all the time!' That made me realize that I was naive," Heigl said to Parents. The actor said she became upset, but she felt that she had to channel that energy to help adopt her daughters. Heigl has a four-year old son with her 13-year spouse, Josh Kelley. They adopted Nancy Leigh (age 12) from South Korea and Adalaide (age 8), who is black in 2009.
