Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on December 12, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast, and is the only person to be recognized with 10/10 scores during an Olympic performance. Bela Karrolyi, the Romanian gymnastics instructor who would become Comaneci's coach later in life, discovered her at age six. She first competed at the junior national championships of Romania in the year 1969, she finished 13th. Then in the year 1970, she won. In 1972, at the communist nations' meet for juniors before the Olympics, she won 3 gold and silver medals. Then in 1973 and '74 she was the junior champion in all aspects. At her first competition as a senior athlete in the year 1975, she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion winning four gold medals as well as one silver. She took home the American Cup in New York City in 1976, becoming the first woman in history to complete the backward double salto in a dismount from the uneven parallel bars. Her career began as an entertainment professional during her teenage years in which she was a part of an ice skating duo along with her twin sister Nina Wayne for the travelling entertainment program Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was born on September 6 1942 on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol began her career in the entertainment business in her teens. She began her career as figure skater performing with her sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show called Ice Capades. Ice Capades was a show that featured skating on ice performed by actors.
